Burst geyser or pipe
- Switch the geyser off at the distribution board.
- Close the main water stopcock, usually near the water meter on the pavement or at the boundary wall.
- Open a cold tap to drain pressure and move valuables away from the water.
- Photograph the damage for your insurer.
Power fault or burning smell
- If it's safe, switch off the main switch at the DB board.
- Don't touch wet plugs, appliances or cables.
- If there's smoke or fire, call the fire department first.
Blocked drain overflowing

Switch the geyser off at the distribution board, close the main water stopcock (or the geyser's cold-water supply valve), move valuables away from the leak, then call +27 67 151 2255. Take photos for your insurer.
